When making any kind of fantastical fiction you are stuck with having to present creatures that come from "elsewhere" as understandable. To do that you ask that the user/viewer suspend disbelief enough to accept an accent that is similar to the one they are already accustomed to. However, when you start asking people to accept multiple "familiar" accents then the viewer starts seeing these different races as "Jamaican," "British," or "American." Add on top of that accents which inherently sound silly to begin with (this is a personal thing. I personally think the Jamaican accent is funny sounding, especially when faked) and you begin to lose suspension of disbelief.
