I think you can download Einhander, great shmup if you're into that kind of thing.
I would suggest trying Final Fantasy VI if it's available. I believe the PS1 iteration was called Final Fantasy Anthology. I've been bingeing on JRPG's all summer, and it is absolutely the most engaging and interesting and I can see it being a good introduction to enjoying the genre.
FFVII is a worthy purchase as well, but it's quite different from VI as far as mechanics go and might be a little cumbersome if you just want a more straightforward, approachable RPG experience. I'd probably try it anyway and just look up a guide.
FFIX is the greatest of them all and has so much shit for people who played the previous games it's just the absolute best. It's also touching and wonderful and yadda yadda it's Ten bucks/euros (buckos) maybe you should get it.
Front Mission 3 is a badass tactics mech game that lets you customize your units in a very non confusing way. That's what was important to me. Strike Witch can tell you more about how great it is.
MediEvil is wonderful and a genuine classic. Totally worth it.
I see Jumping Flash! is available in the EU, so I'll suggest it but not recommend it since I have never played, just heard things. It's a First Person platformer game that's supposed to be wacky as fuck. Rare in its original iteration too. Some other suggestions:
Grandia; it's another approachable, easy to enjoy JRPG.
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver; supposed to be pretty darn good.

Edit: I'm playing Giants: Citizen Kabuto when my shitfuck puppy isn't chewing my cables/limbs.
