I loved Fallout 3 and the only people I've met who outright dislike it are the people who played the originals before 3 came out. Most of them seem to think quite highly of themselves, and don't like the change to their games. I guess I can understand that, I'd be pissed if my favourite franchise got turned into something...
else, but as long as it's not an inherently
bad game, I don't see the problem. I think they treated the franchise fairly respectfully.
Also, what makes on a "retro" gamer? I love old school games too, but that doesn't mean I think Mario 64 is better than Mario Galaxy, or that Ocarina of Time is better than Wind Waker.
