Guns aren't evil...it's the person using it. I am not against someone having a gun provided they aren't a felon, can use it properly (have a permit), and are right in the head (not insane or mentally ill).
If we banned guns outright...the only ones with guns would be the military, cops, and the criminals (no matter what you do...if a criminal wants a gun...they'll get one...illegally). We can't always depend on the cops to protect us (think what happened in LA with cops abusing their power...) and no one I know of likes the idea of the military controling everything.
As for my personal personal feelings about guns themselves...I hate them. I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole if I had a choice (unfortunately...every two years or so I have to the firing ranger to refresh on how to shoot a M-16, it sucks...those things are nearly as big as I am IRL).
I see guns as a cowards way to deal with their problems. If I had to fight (when talking fails)...I would much rather use something more 'personal', like a sword or my fists. (I have taken karate classes before *grin*)
