I think the way it was was clear enough, to be honest.
Having the quintology games titled 'Oddysee' and the and the bonus games titled 'Exoddus' was an excellent method. The only people confused by that seemed to be people that were only newly aware that the 'quintology' even existed.
Stranger's Wrath was really the only thing that threw a spanner in the mix because of the introduction of a new character without it being a new iteration of the quintology or a bonus game featuring any of the quintology characters. Even then, though, if Oddworld kept making games it would've become more clear as more games with the 'Oddysee/Exoddus' title convention were released.
As far as titles go, so far I think 'New 'n' Tasty' and 'Ground Up' have been the most fitting suggestions. Something with 'odd' in it seemed okay at first, but the more I think about it, having it in a word on top of 'oddysee' would be odd overkill.
