Not knowing the requirements for making it smoke-able?

Well me tried to grow it in the summer behind a bush at the back of someone's garden. We thought it would be hot and wet enough for the saplings to grow...turns out it was too dry and they all died.
It was quite funny considering my friends and I were thinking we were gonna make an easy grand out of it
