Those minute scratches you speak of - are they scratches across the face. or are they circular? If they are circular, then the Xbox has scratched the disk. The first models of Xboxes (is that a word?) had a problem of the CD tray being too high or something, and it scratches some of the games. This usually wouldn't be such a big deal, but since it was scratched by the device playing the game, then that means that the scratches are exactly where the laser needs to be reading the disk. I know that there is a number somewhere to call, but you'd have to check comsumer reports to find it - that's where I read about it.
