Though is there really any reason to limit the amount of participants (and therefore frames) in the comic?

Only what I said above. The more participants/frames we have, the more we have to wait for the result, which already took quite a while when we had only six frames.
If people respond swiftly and frames will be coming in quick, I might extend the list to the people on the waiting list.
