Honestly, totally-F2P games make me cry a little inside, because of all those delicious treasures I'll likely never have because I'm a failure dolescum. Looking at you Champs Online. (but, to be fair, they have a system to get around that, even if it requires much grinding)
But paying for the game THEN ALSO paying a subscription seems like an RL goldsink nowadays - yes, WoW, as delicious as I think you are I'm looking at you specifically with this. TERA, you're just as bad. I totally understand why this model exists, but it's not very attractive to consumers.
Honestly, ArenaNet and such companies who have the buy-and-play-free model are very pleasing to me.

TL;DR: I can't see myself giving Hand of Odd a chance if I have to pay monthly for it if it didn't also have a demo mode of some sort attached. I would certainly pay money for it. I really don't understand some of the mindset that the typical gamer seems to have these days, expecting things like total creative control and all games free. :/
