Actually, since this is the Steam version, you should be able to activate noclip mode, fly yourself to somewhere useful (maybe even the start of the level), then deactivate noclip mode for the remainder of your playthrough.
Go to your game library, right click on Abe's Oddysee and look at its properties. On the General tab, look at the game launch options. Add "-it_is_me_your_father" to the dialogue box, excluding the quotes. Next time you launch the game, hold shift right the way up to the main menu, then let go and load your save game normally. Press tab to toggle noclip mode.
