Apparently humans respond well to visible space and foliage. The real thing is best, but even pictures can help you focus. It's one of those caveman survival-psychology things. If you have lush vegetation and a good view of the surrounding area, your brain goes "Woah, I could live safely here for a long time", and makes you feel happy. Or something like that, but with more sex.
And that's why people have pot plants in offices.
