I bought the Nail and decided I didn't want it, then bought the Nine Lives Cat by mistake. I did die once after that, but thankfully I'd also gotten the 1UP as well so I didn't lose any maximum hitpoints.
In the end I had every stat maxed out (as well as a
lot of Tears Up pills on top of that, but do they keep having an affect after the bar is full?) except Speed, which was very close to it. I felt like a god until I reached Satan.
