The construction of secret underground entrances to factories just seems like a needless expenditure to me. I doubt any construction firm on Oddworld would waste money like that.

Glukkons are as wasteful and excessive as they possibly can be as a way of showing their power. Much of Rupture Farms doesn't even serve a purpose for meat production, it's just never-ending walkways.
