Scrabtrapman, get yourself a copy of flash CS5.5, sit down, and do this tutorial:

you will also need to download away3D too, make sure you get the version the tutorial suggests, just because it will make life easier for you in the long run.
Once you've ran through that tutorial you should have some nice knowledge on how to use AS3 and Away3D.
The only thing you can do from then on is practice. Something I had a hard time getting my head around was classes. There's a good tutorial for that on the net which I will find for you once you need it.
