In days of yore, such "shameless ripping-offs" of other people's work were actually considered a tribute of sorts to the original author, even if he was really pointed out as the original source (Nahum Tate's rendition of "King Lear" comes to mind).

I'm not entirely sure, though, that this sudden whim of thought will bring you any comfort...

Well, once you put something out there for everyone to view, you can't really do anything against this sort of thing. You could troll him in the messages with posting links to your own videos, with the date of their posting attached.
