Erm.. Destro.. This is not an RPG. There is no storyline and there is are infinite lives. That whole zombie attack was fine but this special rule with the orb is a little too complicated with this game.

I don't remember Splat mentioning any of that past "This is not an RPG" and "infinite lives". Both points of which Destro has not violated..
Stop making up rules to our pleasantly simple game. If you don't like the way someone else plays, ignore them.
I personally enjoy this game much more when it begins to weave a plot line.
