Their last few movies have just felt so hollow to me. Artistically astounding, yes, but their characterization leaves plenty to be desired as of late.

Well Spirited Away was a great, though not spectacular, story about growing up and conquering your fears, Howl's Moving Castle
should be a bad movie but it's so infuriatingly magical that I can't help loving it and Ponyo is a kids movie.
Also Miyazaki is a crotchety old man who thinks people with iphones on public transport remind him of masturbating.
