We still don't have a clue what went on 40 years ago. Or even 23 years ago. If Gaddafi had gone to trial we in Britain might learn what if anything Gaddafi knew about the Lockerbie bombings and the murder of PC Fletcher, and any number of other international atrocities he was or may have been involved with. We'll never know now.
He should have stood an actual trial and been held accountable for each crime individually. The first action of the "new" Libya would have proved that they would do things differently.
As it went, it was business as usual. I hope things change, but it is a bad start.
