No, I'm pretty sure dying of cancer sucks. My mother has told me enough about my nana's last few weeks to make me certain of this.

That's not really dying though; that's suffering due to illness. Which is what Steve Jobs had been doing for years without any massive outpouring of sympathy.
I look at dying as being seperate to the illness that caused it. When my grandmother died of cancer, it was more of a relief than anything else that her suffering was now over.
