The game itself is quite good, but the real hook is the best vidya gimmick in recent years: Narration. It's just a laugh to have the frequently unrealistic actions we make in games forcibly tied into a story. Also the general atmosphere is pretty nice.
As I've said before, I'm not really a fan of anime, but spend any amount of time on the internet and it will eventually vomit up something that sounds compelling enough to justify the art. So as a Lovecraft fan and general lover of creepy space-doom I played
Saya no Uta.

WoF seems to like VNs with gratuitous amounts of gore (plus scary preadatory little girls), he'd probably enjoy it more than me.
