For a while I've been planning an adventure map that would make use of 1.8's new blocks, and I was going to start work on it as soon as 1.8 was released. Yesterday I decided that I'd just download the prelease and start now.

(spoiler tags because DH used them)

It's not a world I'm going to play in, so I've been building it in Creative Mode and haven't experienced the hunger thing yet (I think I heard you'd be able to changed a world to Adventure Mode later on; if that's not the case I'll just use this to plan it and rebuild everything later in Adventure), but the new terrain features I've seen are really nice - abandoned mine shafts are creepy as heck, and the tiny blue spiders would, I imagine, be hard to deal with if they could hurt you (not to mention POISON you - egad!). Ravines are neat too; I've found a few surface ones, including two that crossed each other in an X.

I like the new lighting a lot, too.
