insert coin prefer to do oblique references to games; rather than just plonking a great big oddworld logo on the front, they like to advertise the companies inside the actual game.

I do like this approach and will probably end up buying that Sekto Springs shirt when it gets released.
That said, I would
love to see t-shirts released that are more direct—personally I feel that the art and style is part of the huge attraction of the Oddworld series, and it would be a shame if that wasn’t leveraged in some way.
