Alice: Madness Returns. If you enjoyed the first Alice, worth a rental. If not...Meh. Madness Returns is full of broken platforming that lead to countless deaths/throw-your-controller-across-the-room-because-you've-died-trying-to-do-the-same-thing-15-times-in-a-row frustration. The in game graphics seem to shift from being pretty to absolute garbage for no apparent reason, and the story is pretty much a non-existent convoluted mess. Which, given the title, makes sense. Sort of. I guess.
Then there's the combat. It works quite nicely. Most of the time, it's actually fun. Until you're introduced to some sort of new enemy that has some sort of mystery weakness that, unless tapped, leaves the enemy a hard hitting pretty much invincible piece of shit. It gets better later on when you get more weapons, but when you start of with just the vorpal blade, it sucks. It sucks a lot.
All of those complaints aside, I was a huge fan of the first Alice when I was younger, and have put up with all of the bad just for a chance to tear my way through this fucked up version of Wonderland again. Since it's just a rental, I don't really feel wronged, but had I paid full retail for it out of sheer love of the series [as I had planned on] I would have been pretty pissed.
