Pretty sure 'mothering' classes were a staple of female education until the 40s/50s. Fathers were never really expected to input in their children's upbringing.

Oh, I see. It happened in schools? That's why I was confused; I was imagining adult education classes given to pregnant couples, similar to the whole Lamaze thing.
