Society and Pregnancy

I think this is appropiate for its own thread, mods can work their magic if I am wrong

ANYWAY!

Is it me or is society's view on teenage pregnancy become more and more relaxed to the point that it is almost being considered "normal" in the same fashion that homosexuality or premarital sex has followed.

There's even TV shows about it now following the lives of young parents...

My personal view on it depends on how it happened really, if you were stupid enough to go and have sex with no contraception then I really lack sympathy for you. But as we know contraception isn't always reliable and sometimes fails so then my opinion is completly different.

Sometimes I feel like it is just a way to sponge money off the government, especially when you see the condition of some of the chavs these days...

Without trying to sound like an asshole but whenever I see young mothers they always seem to be chavs or at least the father is chavy...

My mum was pregnant with me at 18 and from what I can understand it was unexpected but its not really something I want to talk to her about, it just really scares me because I'm 18 now and I just don't know how on earth I would cope.

Though my mum did say to me that it is one worry off her mind, that I won't come home and announce that I've become a father...

I have people from my school who are getting pregnant now, some are currently expecting, others are already raising their child. Before we even finished school, 3 girls were pregnant, 2 of them suffered a miscariage and the hard part for me was the fact that one was a good friend, but a while ago we had a falling out and haven't spoke since but from what I know these days she is raising a child now. One girl from school is currently raising 2 children. Not twins, 2 seperate births... I think she needs to slow down.

The attitude between these people have been different, most of the girls were totally shocked and a depressed wreck at first but they went through with it and manned up. One of my friends has got his girlfriend pregant and the pair of them were happy throughout it all, thats good and all, but at 18 things are going to be tough, I honestly think the pair of them are in for a huge shock when the baby arrives.

So whats your opinon on this? Is this out of control pregnancy rate on it's way to overpopulate the earth?
