I also get sleep paralysis a couple of times every couple of months. Usually one after the other then no more for a while. If you get them you're advised not to struggle and try to remove yourself from the situation. I find that whenever I try to get out of bed I'm thrown back in.

That's definitely true. I used to put all my energy into waking up, but it never worked. It's always an "Oh, fuck, not again" situation for me now, and I just lay there bored out of my fucking mind whilst I listen a (quite often coherent) string of words.
