I built the sandstone tower. I guess it'd be more or less impossible to find the coordinates of the portal I build nether-side.

Edit: I think i'm gonna take it upon myself to build a rail heading east through the Nether, to make a location for the new settlement. I'll stick a portal on the end but not activate it yet. Then we'll have new chunks for 1.8 (We'll all gather round for the mass migration and find the portal arrives over a vast ocean... of lava... a mile underground).
