You don't have to have a station if you don't want one, Splat's valley is quite far from you if I ever build all the way up to there, the line for that should be some way away.
I may not even bother going that far unless people really want it and give me enough iron (I need mine for RF), I do at least want to get as far as the lava lakes though.

Well my place is a short walk from WoF and Splat anyway, so there's not really a need to build one directly to me. Nobody else really visits anyway, so it'd just be a convenience for me, which I don't really need.

If you do migrate half-way across the world, make sure to wait until 1.8. :P

That's the plan! My new lair will reach down into some ungodly ravine and an obsidian mountain will loom over the local NPC village.
