I really wanted to see Super 8 at first, but then my interest just...went away. I don't know why, really. Does the movie feel more Spielberg, or Abrams? I think it's the Spielberg aspect that puts me off. That and the fact that the trailer seems like an updated version of the original trailer for E.T.

The whole movie really is just Abrams' wank to Spielberg. It's extremely derivative, and I'm surprised the reviews were as positive as they were. It was like Close Encounters of the Third Kind meets The Goonies. It was a passable film, but I don't get why everyone touts Abrams as some kind of genius. So far every thing he's churned out seems really meh. Then again I haven't actually seen Lost. I have seen Fringe though, and it sucks.
On a different note, Cars 2 is shaping up to be the least critically acclaimed Pixar film to date. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am a little. The first Cars was a shit sandwich without the crusts and still got rave reviews. I guess the major shittiness of Cars 2 simply couldn't be ignored.
