I hear a lot of people have trouble playing offline games, and also when I think about it, the whole principle of HAVING to have steam installed to play certain games is horrendous. I only really realized now that steam is actually required (well not really, but I only really gave it a thought now), and I don't agree with that aspect.
At one time it would've been, but now it's the norm, for better or for worse. And you've got to bear in mind that developers choose to make their deals with Valve. They think Steam can help them turn a profit out of games that we otherwise wouldn't get to see.

In other words, if a developer signs a ballbusting contract with Steam, it's becaue they had no choice. I'd rather get to play the game on Steam than not at all, and I'd rather the devs made a profit reduced by the surely massive comission Steam takes than no profit at all.

Also, do you think we can expand this thread to just F2P games in general? I want to talk about World of Tanks.
