The bad effects of absinthe is that it makes you sick as hell whenever you take enough of it, it's kind of like acid on your tongue as well... it just burns and I could of swore on the night I lost all sense of taste.
The good effects is that it makes you forget whatever stupid shit you did on the night and it gets you drunk... fast. I would know about the hangover because, as I'm proud to mention, I don't get hangovers.
EDIT: STM; cannabis, cocaine, heroin and ecstasy is all banned yet people manage to get their hands on the stuff. I wouldn't worry too much about it being banned anyways seeing as all the stuff I've came across was horseshit and hardly anyone buys it anymore.

I don't get hangovers either... But I do tend to get sick in my stomach
But I suppose thats only if I drink mixed drinks... Or too much. Alcohol sickness sucks.
The worst sickness I ever got was when I was in HS and we were on a studytrip to London. The guys thought it would be funny to keep giving me tequila shots(like 10 or something). Being the insecure girl that I was, I let myself get peer-pressured into doing it. I ended up eating all the lemons in the bar and the owners got quite annoyed at that. I also think I managed to forget a tiiiny bit of the night. A classmate of mine also permanently froze the word "lol" in his arm with ice cubes and salt.... He regretted it the next morning...
Anyway I came back to the hotel room and puked all over the place. And I barely knew what I was doing, and only then did people really get concerned with me. The girls helped me in the shower and let me get all that nasty stuff out of my system.
Next morning I was fine though. A bit tired but fine. Probly cos I managed to puke most of it out.
The teachers got really mad though and preached to the students about drinking and poor poor me for being victim to their games or something.
It was kind of a shit trip for me too, cos i was the quiet type and had a hard time relating to any of the people. The school-part of it was fun though. We got to see a lot of London and lots of museums... I really liked Camden Market too and thats when i fell in love with it.
Camden market has a shop that sells Salvia btw. I wonder if it's the real shit and if it's any good.
