It will work with the steam version, there a couple of ddraw.dll's that where posted 
Also I find that editing collision paths in my editor is ANNOYING AS HELL  I think I need to add more grid stuff before anything else as collisions that are not on the grid properly don't work or allow you to fall through the floor etc. |
Yeah, that would help. I only really have a problem when it comes to hoists. Mainly offscreen ones.
