What do you guys think about forced sterilisation? Like with mentally handicapped people who are able to have sex but aren't able to look after the children or understand the rammifications? Some families have gone through legal proceedings to get their children sterilised. |
There was a story a few years back here about a couple who wanted to give their daughter who had Downs Syndrome a hysterectomy. Their justification was that she panics at the sight of blood and that she would never have the maturity to take care of herself hygienically.
Civil rights groups went crazy about the enforced sterilisation of a poor, disadvantaged child. It was a big news story for a couple of days, until someone pointed out to them that people with Downs Syndrome are already infertile.
