What wishful thinking? He was asserting that a 3D AE wouldn't be able to have secret areas, which put a HUGE boundary in his wishful thinking. I kindly went and explained to him that it is not the case, because a 3D version could have different secret areas, not just copypasta from the original.

Even then there are other uses to recruits, ie sligs inside the facility. BTW if this is a proper-sized game the facility would have to be huge to make the game long, so there should be some challenge other than just blow shit up and you're done. That would be pretty boring IMO.
