I do believe the most likely result will be precisely the same game except with higher-poly characters. If we're amazingly lucky they'd get rid of/replace some sounds. Anything more than that would represent a stupid effort-to-improvement ratio.
If they're going to bring the original Munch ideas to fruition, it's going to take a lot more than tinkering with the existing game.
