Public reception? I'd wager the vast majority of people who play games have heard of/played SA, and most of them would enjoy it/have fond memories of it. It's a
very highly regarded game, to the point where a lot of people say they enjoyed it
more than GTA IV.
Popularity?
It's the third best-selling game of all time.
