There is such a high rate of suicide in Japan because Japanese people are perfectionists. They are hard working and they want to do everything perfectly or then they don't do it at all. If they do something horrible the first choice for them is to kill themselves so they wouldn't cause any more harm to their family. And they feel so embarresed and dissappointed with themselves that they just can't go on living. If for example a Japanese politician does something terrible (like politicians always do..

) he will immediately resign from his job and usually after that kill himself.
