When I was at school, we had one such person. I'd name him the class clown, more than a misbehaving miscreant. Everything was good-natured and everyone was happy. Except the teacher, of course.

Humor is an an exceptional way to help mediate the unpleasantness of social anxiety. I also have a fondness for club/organization kind of stuff... the small groups, at least. They're some very nifty facilitated interaction with people similarly interested people.
In other news, I had the 'intake interview' for my evaluation today; the earliest openings I could get for the 6 hours of psychological/personality/cognitive testing are in early May. I loved having the receptionist (over the phone) ask for the child's name I was making the appointment for, and I'll be damned if talking to the Autism psych wasn't infinitely more pleasurable than trying to talk to the jaded jackass addiction specialist I'd be going to for ADHD (who'd a'thunk?). The evaluation process is damned expensive... something around $1800 overall. God bless the awesome medical insurance I get through my dad's place of work.
