I think he's impressed that Vorac managed to keep the mandrill out, so he wants to officially hire him, and will pay him more than planned 'cus he did a better job against the mandrill than Sen expected anyone ever could.
Which is also why he's so eager to hire him even when he's been late and generally been more trouble than help since starting.
