Ah, I want to try this game so badly. Is there any kind of free trial or anything of the full version?

If you know someone who has the full version, all they have to do is install the most recent release on your PC, sign in once, then when you want to play, just hit login (without a username/password) you'll get a 'login failed' screen with the option to play offline. Do so. Works for me, and I've been playing for upwards of a month.
