Concussive shot is effective against barriers, and the Cain vastly reduces the length of the Praetorian fight.
Fun business with Harbinger, though: if you have Dominate (you get it it you betray Samara and recruit Morinth instead, you need a high Paragon or Renegade score to choose), it's basically AI hacking for organics, then you can turn him against his fellow collectors. You can't dominate him directly, he has no red health bar, but he always possesses the most wounded Collector, so bait one is such a way and use Dominate on him. If you time it right, Harbinger will possess him immediately after and fight for your side.
If not, slide along cover to avoid being knocked out of it by that attack of his, and for god's sake, use Adrenalin Rush at every opportunity. Hardened, preferably, you'll need it when sprinting to a new piece of cover when he gets too close.

My paragon bar is full but I didn't have the heart to betray Samara :P
Completed it a few days ago, I found leaving Harbinger last in any given group (as challenging as it was) was more helpful than killing him outright only to possess another drone.
I'm currently at Tali's recruitment mission, and want a nightmare it is. Just met Kal'Reager and I'd have to say, I don't know what's harder; pressing towards the Colossus or popping up to take a shot only to have my shields shredded in an instant. (I also found Grunt and Legion are immune to the harmful sun rays.)
Legion's AI hacking has limited use, I have troubled pressing on when the two Prime's appear, I found moving up on the left the easiest of the three, I don't have the Colossus taking shots at me, but the amount of Geth troopers is hard to bypass.
I restarted it because Grunt kept fucking charging into the fray and getting himself killed, so I replaced him with Garrus. Adrenaline Rush is useful, I just need 2 more points to advance it to it's greatest level, but agh...the difficulty curve is astounding.
