Fred and (at least in how I interpretted his quote) Stewart Gilray weren't talking about an HD update. They were talking about a full, 2.5D remake.
I would support some sort of re-rendering update but starting from scratch to recreate an identical game seems pointless to me.

Ah, fair enough. I guess that's just a difference in opinion because a 2.5D remake still sounds awesome to me.
