Most philosophy is (sorry to be so bland) pointless. Take the Ship of Theseus for example. Who gives a shit when Theseus' boat stopped being Theseus' boat. Does it really matter?

Most books/music/video games/movies are (sorry to be so bland) pointless. Take 2001: A Space Odyssey for example. Who gives a shit when HAL 9000 stopped being helpful and tried to kill Dave. Does it really matter?

To answer: no it doesn't "really matter", but philosophy and thought experiments are an interesting brain exercise that give you a chance to work on your logical thinking skills, while at the same time can be pretty interesting to think about and discuss.
