Shrykull and spirit rings are supernatural powers granted to Abe only in very rare circumstances. A better thing to point out would be grenades, but again they're relatively rare. Possession is much more than a weapon, although it can obviously be used offensively. Having Abe carry a weapon around all the time would be a different thing entirely.
