Hello

First of all let me tell you that your project is looking great so far.

I've always been a huge fan of oddworld. I played the first two games for the ps1 and, because of changing platform, wasn't able to play the xbox games. Recently, after my degree in advertising, I started to notice that what I really wanted all these years was to be part of the game industry, but in Portugal there is no such thing as an industry to turn to. So I've been trying to develop my skills in the areas I love - modeling, sculpting, etc and started to learn the unity and udk.
The point of all this is to say that I'm trying to, in the next years, create a portfolio that covers the areas of the game industry and I was planning to make a prequel to the abe's oddysee game. Thing is I love the 2D game and was thinking going in that direction. I've had some ideias and I though about starting to write a script with the story and then move on to the development phase. Concept characters, modeling, etc.
It's a not comercial objective, the full purpose is to create a rich portfolio and make something I really love.

I have a few questions I would like to ask you:
What is the game engine you've been using up so far, unity?
Have you learned everything by yourself?
Would you be interested (after finishing your project) in starting something from scratch? (It would be nice for experience to start something from ground zero I supose...)

Well, that's it for now! Keep up the excelent work!
Hey man, thanks for the coment.

This project is also mainly for portfolio purposes, I didnt really know what to put on a showreel so I just decided to just make oddworld (My original idea was to reconstruct Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus, but I dropped Exoddus as it was far to big a project for one person).

As the project stands, it no longer has a game engine as I lost my programer last month, but we were using Unity engine, Ive had a short play with the engine but concentrated on modeling all the objects as this project eats up a lot of my time.

I learnt the basics of 3D animation in University but I didnt really start to learn the real stuff untill I bought the software myself (Lightwave 9) so I guess I'm pretty much self tought

and yes I would be interested in working on a brand new original project :-)

I was thinking about starting a company too xD but now that i think about it you'll need a lot of people, That's why I'm thinking about going to movie business first (3d movies like pixar but serious movies) Then with the team i have i will start a gaming company! and a good thing about it is that i live 2 hours away from the college that does that xD. I also wanted to tell u i downloaded a trial of zbrush and man the possibility u can do in there!
hey good luck man :-)

Yes, Zbrush 4 is something big. I've been using version 3.5 and am thinking to upgrade to new version because of some new features for hardsurface modeling (like shadowbox).

It's a hard and time consuming job but the final output make every second worth it.

Also, I would like to add that my main expertise right now is character concept (since my background has always been traditional illustration) and modeling. So if any of those might come in handy for this project, you can count me in.
I lost my patience with Zbrush 2 years ago lol
