He may've gone a little OTT with his "solutions", but other than that some good ideas were thrown all over the place that should really be picked up again.

Such as? I mean, if you're going to make a statement like this, you should probably be a bit more specific. Was it his idea to have punch at the party gathering? Do you like his ideas on health care? What?
Also, claiming that you liked some of his ideas, and then qualifying that statement with saying that you're pretty "right wing" doesn't make much sense. Mainly, because the only "right wing" thing about Hitler, and the Nazi party was their treatment of minorities, and insistence on suppressing dissidents. Socialism is about as left as you can get.
