So has the plan to include acheivements in AO & AE been officially scrapped?

As much as it pains us to say this, yes. Those 2 projects are THAT old, that to get them to compile and work with modern build tools, which the Steam stuff requires, would take us a fairly long time.
Besides, we've got other plans.
