While Gears of War (1&2) had nice gameplay, the story was horrible. It felt like something thought up by an unimaginative, unemotive, war-mongering redneck while he was taking a dump.
If you look past the toilet humour probably the best thing about the OddWorld series is how they reflect real-life events, past and present. And that is precisely why I appreiciate OddWorld so much; because Lorne can do better than space men killing a giant worm from the inside by chainsawing its main arteries.

That would be a good comparison if Gears was trying to accomplish the same thing as Oddworld is trying to accomplish, but it isn't. Its just a stupid comparison.
