I've often considered them similar, they do look a mite bit similar, although Grubbs I don't think evolved from some form of bird.

Grubbs take on a lot of the characteristics of the western US, especially with the surfer dialect, whilst slavery lies further to the East of Mudos it seems. I've said before that Mudos represents to an extent a United States archetype.

Whether they fought or not is another question.
Mudokons could represent repressed 'african-american' slaves, whilst Grubbs repressed native Americans fighting for land. The difference here being Mudokons have always, as far as we know, resided on Mudos and if that's the case, perhaps Grubbs are in fact foreigners from another land far off?

I mean there's also the fact that Grubbs are less active and less violent than their Mudokon neighbours. They don't seem like the fighting type. They did very little to hold onto their land.
