No one wants a sidescroller any more, recently, I have only ever been pleased by one platformer and that's watching LIMBO.

Bullshit. A LOT of people love and want more sidescrollers, myself included. They are coming back in huge numbers too. From the PSN and XBA stuff like Limbo, Braid, Scott Pilgrim, ect. To the medium-sized stand-alone titles like Lost in Shadow (can't wait for that myself), to the revival of the old sidescrolling giants. Mario has been doing well with the New Super Mario Brothers games, and I am sure Epic Kirby and Donkey Kong Country returns will do decent as well.
When it comes to Oddworld, I see a lot of people saying they want it to return to 2D.
